Over 300 people attend Knox United Country Carnival

On Friday, September 28, Knox United Church held one of the many fundraisers planned to help raise funds to refurbish the historic building.

A Country Carnival was held where over 300 people attended.     The focus of the event was good old fashion fun for all.   Anne Carroll, organized a wonderful series of  games ranging from three legged races, to sack races,  ring toss, stilts and the great cat & mouse game.    The highlight of the night however was the jello eating contest.   A loud roar could be heard as each race closed to the finish.   One could certainly see who participated in the jello eating contest from the smile on their messy faces.

Lots of hotdogs and hamburgers, with cookies and drinks were served by the Busy Moms group that was organized by Kathi Taylor.   Great job ladies for doing such a great job organizing and preparing the feast.    The food was great.

The night came to an end with people frantically  trying to outbid others in the Silent Auction.    There were definitely some very interesting tactics used to bid.    People went home with a large variety of items ranging from A Day at the Farm, to Maple Leaf tickets, an Ottawa Senators signed Mike Fisher jersey, to beautiful handmade quilts.    There was something to suit everyone.

The organizing committee would like to thank Contributors/Sponsors, Battlefield Equipment Rentals - Colin Goheen,  Conestoga Cold Storage - Ed Shantz,  Coca-Cola Products - Todd McFarlane,  and Deutschmann Paquette Travers - Rob Deutschmann.   Plus all the local businesses and individuals for their contributions to the Silent Auction.    In total $5700.00 was raised that will be put towards the restoration project which will begin this fall.
